Yesterday, it was confirmed that Oschner Lafayette General would be administering the COVID-19 vaccine at the Cecilia Civic Center on February 18, 2021, from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.  The informational sheet set forth outlines the steps which must be followed in order to register for the vaccine.  Parish President Chester Cedars is indeed hopeful that we will continue to have vaccination sites through out our Parish especially as the supply increases and the age-group eligibility expands.

Parish President Chester Cedars is particularly appreciative of the cooperation which both the Region 4 LDH officials and Oschner Lafayette General have demonstrated in selecting this facility in our Parish. With the limited supply of the vaccine and the expertise required in handling it, among other obstacles, it is indeed a difficult task to recruit sites and qualified professionals for the distribution.  Parish President Chester Cedars is committed to continuing work with LDH and all willing and available healthcare personnel to make the distribution of the vaccine as convenient, effective, and expansive as possible so that those who wish to avail themselves of this opportunity can do so as quickly and easily as possible.

Furthermore, Parish President Chester Cedars wishes to extend, personally and on behalf of St. Martin Parish Government, his appreciation to all the pharmacies and other healthcare providers who have been offering the vaccine.  The role they have undertaken in the “pandemic battle” is indeed immense.

There is no doubt that an effective and expansive vaccine distribution program will protect the public and be the most effective and significant step in our return to normalcy.
