St. Martin Parish President Chester R. Cedars
October 23, 2020
Yesterday, by virtue of Executive Order 143 JBE 2020, Governor John Bel Edwards amended his previous Phase 3 Orders to allow 50% capacity at outdoor elementary and secondary school-aged athletic events. The 50% capacity is permissible under these conditions:
• The percent positivity rate of the Parish where the athletic venue is located has a positivity rate of 5% or below for two consecutive weeks;
• All spectators and attendees must wear masks and shall be required to seated in a “socially distanced” manner; and,
• All events must be conducted pursuant to the guidance from the State Fire Marshall as published at https://opensafely.la.gov/.
To be eligible, Parishes do not have to “opt-in” as was the case with the re-opening of bars.
The positivity rate for St. Martin Parish has been 5% or less for several consecutive weeks.
Consequently, as Parish President, I have confirmed all of the foregoing with the Superintendent of Schools for St. Martin Parish and have pledged Parish Government’s unqualified support in the school system’s endeavors.
Another positive step in our return to normalcy during this unprecedented COVID-19 battle!
