St. Martin Parish President Chester R. Cedars

President Larry Richard of Iberia Parish has advised me that a resident of his Parish has tested positive for COVID-19. At his request, I was personally present at a press conference which he had convened to announce this development. I want to assure St. Martin Parish residents that our region is working together to combat the spread of COVID-19. As with the positive tests from Lafayette Parish and St. Landry Parish, this latest report was anticipated.

This afternoon, Governor Edwards made a very, very important statement to the effect that he and health officials are confident that if the citizens of our state will abide by the measures/restrictions which have been previously imposed, there will likely be no need for any enhanced measures. Both the Parish’s OEP and I embrace the Governor’s remarks, and we are certain that in our Parish, our citizens will fully comply. Moreover, I know that St. Martin Parish will continue to aggressively practice social distancing and abide by the personal hygiene practices previously recommended.

Please read this message in connection with my previous reports/updates. Also, we will continue to post developments as circumstances with COVID-19 develop.
