There has been a confirmed positive test for COVID-19 from St. Landry Parish. We are beginning to see the product of the testing which is being done. As with the positive tests from Lafayette Parish, THIS IS NOT UNEXPECTED. More positive tests results from our region can be expected. These positive test results do not necessarily mean there will be enhanced measures/restrictions imposed. In fact, the current measures were imposed in anticipation of an increase in REPORTED positive test results. This is not to say that there will not be additional measures imposed. However, contrary to many reports, at this time, there have been no enhanced measures ordered by the Governor.

As regards the current testing and/or screening sites, there is a shortage of personnel, both medical and non-medical at those sites. If you are in the medical field (including the dental profession) and wish to VOLUNTEER, please call 337-262-5311. If you are not in the medical field and wish to volunteer, please contact United Way of Acadiana. DO NOT MERELY SHOW UP AT THE SCREENING/TESTING SITE WITHOUT CALLING ONE OF THE ABOVE NUMBERS.

Please read this message in connection with my previous reports/updates. Also, we will continue to post developments as circumstance with COVID-19 develop.
