The St. Martin Parish Fire District is accepting applications for the position of Fire District Training Officer. The primary duties include conducting drills and training classes for all fire district personnel. The employee in this position prepares training materials and tests, develops and implements training and safety programs by evaluating the performance of district personnel during training and by maintaining records required to document the activity of the training and safety division. A candidate must possess a valid driver’s license, at least a high school diploma, and a working knowledge for using computer systems and programs. An ideal candidate will have at least six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in fire service positions. Fire experience includes experience in fire suppression and rescue and will include work in positions which would provide background in fire prevention, fire training, public fire education, supervisory or administrative positions. Required certifications include IFSAC or Pro Board Certification as: Haz-Mat Awareness, Haz-Mat Operations, Firefighter 1 and 2, Apparatus Driver/Operator – Pumper, Fire Instructor 1, Fire Officer 1. Must have obtained the following IFSAC or Pro Board Certifications within 8 months of hire date: Fire Instructor 2, Fire Officer 2, and Fire Safety Officer.
