St. Martin Parish Fire District is accepting applications for the position of Emergency Vehicle Technician. The duties for this position include the repair and maintenance of fire department vehicles, equipment and facilities. The EVT diagnoses mechanical problems and conduct safety inspections on all departmental vehicles, equipment, and facilities. The EVT makes repairs to fire apparatus and fire apparatus equipment, perform maintenance tasks and adjustments on fire department vehicles and equipment, facilities, and organize replacement parts for fire vehicles and equipment. The EVT reports to and has work reviewed by the Fire Coordinator. Qualifications: Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must not be less than 18 years of age. Must possess one of the following: high school diploma, general educational development (G.E.D.) certificate. Must have at least five (5) years’ experience in the repair, rebuilding, and/or maintenance of heavy equipment, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and water pumps. Must obtain the certifications of Emergency Vehicle Technician F1, F2, F3, and F4 within 18 months of start date. All applicants MUST complete a job application to be considered for the position.
