The St. Martin Parish Fire District was created in 1967 by a vote of the public to levy millages for twelve (12) Fire Departments. The Fire District protects approximately 53,520 people throughout St. Martin Parish. The Fire District is comprised of a paid Fire Coordinator, Training Officer, Fire District Technician, Fourteen (14) Part-Time Firefighters, and over 240 VOLUNTEER Firefighters. The fire district operates seventeen (17) Fire Stations, one (1) Training Facility, one (1) Administrative Office, twenty-six (26) Engines, five (5) Pumper/Tankers, six (6) Tankers, eleven (11) Service Units, two (2) Ladder Trucks, seven (7) Brush Fire Units, seven (7) Air Supply Trailers, four (4) Command Units and one (1) Fire Prevention Safety Trailer. We respond to an average of 1,300 calls for service a year, and our dedicated group of Volunteer Firemen obtain over 12,000 hours of training to assure readiness at a moment’s notice.
